Chestnut Hill is perhaps best known as the home of Boston College. It is located about six miles west of Boston MA, and is one of the thirteen “villages” in Newton MA. But to be more detailed, “Chestnut Hill” is an area that is located in three different municipalities, Newton, Boston and the town of Brookline.
Within Newton city limits, most of the housing in Chestnut Hill is large single family homes. There are some multifamily properties and small apartment buildings on the Boston and Brookline side of Chestnut Hill too.

The Chestnut Hill Mall is also not far from Hammond Pond on Route 9/Boylston Street. In the last 10 years, this strip on Rt. 9 has grown into a major commercial area. A new development is opening in 2014 with many shops, office space and apartments too.
There is a stop on the Green Line “D” train that stops here, Chestnut Hill, on Hammond Street.
