I think that there are few things more stressful than searching for an apartment from out of state and with a pressing deadline. However as my husband and I found knowing the right people makes all the difference. Mike was able to help us immensely to not only find apartments that fit within our price range but where in great locations. I have to admit the thing that stuck out more than what we were able to find was what we were able to avoid. One of the apartments that we both really liked Mike found out had a reputation for drug traffic and because of that he was not willing to risk it and go through with the rental. I appreciated that he held his standard even if it meant missing the opportunity for himself. All in all we found Mike very helpful which made the process so much easier!

As someone who was relocating from out-of-state, Mike helped my wife and I find a good apartment that fit our needs. Though I had an innate sense of loathing realtors, Mike made the process seem like I was getting to know a new friend who was helping me get to know the area and find a good place to live. Though we weren't able to get a hold of him via email and I would suggest calling, Mike more than made up for it, so much so that I still gave him a five star rating here. I also appreciated the sense I got that I was not only working with someone who knew the business of realty but was also a scholar in the field of realty, if there is such a thing.

I would recommend Mike and Carla to anyone and enjoy working with them. Mike and Carla are great! My husband son and I needed to rent our condo and Mike handled everything, and will continue to manage the property. We feel like his only clients and get immediate responses to our emails and calls. Mike recently helped me find an apartment. Unlike other realtors I met with, Mike didn't show me apartments he knew I wouldn't like. When it came down to two apartments I liked (one through him and one through another realtor) he called to check in on me without pressuring me. He was a tremendous help throughout the apartment hunting process, even assisting me after the "deal was made". Mike was honest and forthcoming and made the apartment hunting process a bit easier.

Michael is an excellent rental agent. Definitely knows his "stuff" when it comes to renting a property in Newton. Always on time and always reliable. He found us a great rental. Couple of years later we decided to consider him as a buyers agent. He was able to find us a house in Newton that did suit our needs. Has great knowledge of the area with respect to both rental and for-sale properties. Moreover, a newsletter arrives every month from NCA which contains tips and current trends.

Finding our third apartment with Newton Centre Associates was a great experience!! I was getting nervous that our move-in date was rapidly approaching and we wouldn't find a place to live, but they found us the perfect place within 2 days! We had our lease signed in less than 24 hours!
The place we found was a great find, and it could have been scooped up in no time, but Newton Centre Associates was on the ball! I can't WAIT to move to the new place, it's fantastic! Everyone in the office is so friendly and easy to work with, and their Admin. Assistant knows it all!

From mid-August 2006 to mid-February of 2009 I lived in unit #1 of 410 Newtonville Avenue. When I rented the apartment it was in need of painting and window repairs. These were completed prior to my move in date.
Michael was my rental agent; all of the apartments were rented through the fall of 2008 when, due to the impending sale of the property, Mr. Curry opted not to look for new tenants for unit #3 after the previous tenants had vacated.
In terms of maintenance Michael was always quick to respond to phone calls. The quality and depth of repairs varied based on the landlord’s judgment as to the appropriateness of investment in the property given its impending sale.
While I have never met Mr. Curry, I can say that Michael was an excellent liaison between landlord and tenant. This was my first rental experience without first hand interaction with my landlord. Michael was attentive, responsive, easy to reach, and always responded in a timely manner. As a manager Michael went beyond the call of duty when in the summer of 2008 when I was away and my dog sitter locked herself out of the apartment. Not only did he come and unlock the apartment but took personal time to help take care of my dog who was injured at the time.
Michael is a likable and personal manager who takes the time to get to know the tenants of the properties he manages and works hard to balance and maintain a positive relationship between the property owners and tenants.

Every other review on this page is true; if you want to work with a real estate agent who understands you, who fights for you and who wants to see you find the right home, then you should definitely be working with them.

I attended Mike’s multi-family home ownership seminar last fall. I know Mike because he is the property manager of the two-family home that my family and I rent in Newton. We are not home owners but are planning to be in the future, so when Mike invited me to attend the seminar that he and his colleagues host I was very interested in the opportunity to learn more about single and multi-family home ownership. My interest did not go unrewarded. The combination of Mike and his team’s financial, legal and practical knowledge made for a very productive seminar. The presentations provided very useful and specific advice and counsel for anyone interested in home ownership. Oh, and in addition to his expertise in the (Boston area realty market) he is an outstanding property manager as well.

Kiele did a great job helping us out. She did an excellent job of listening to what we wanted and only showing us places that we were actually interested in. I felt like her first priority was helping us find a place that was right of us, as opposed to just getting us to sign on a place immediately, which seems to be what every other company does.

We were relocating from San Francisco to Newton, and had very limited time to find a new home, especially given our very specific criteria. Michael had access to properties that fit our needs, and was very responsive and flexible to our schedules – he even drove the paperwork out to my office. What a cool realtor. We didn't end up renting any of the places that they listed, but probably would have if someone else hadn't beaten us to the one we really liked. I dealt with Mike, who is the self-described "owner, President, CEO, Big Guy, HeadCheese" of the company and is really, really nice.
After seeing some listings on Craigslist for apartments, I emailed the address included in the ad... and didn't get a reply. So I called to ask about them, and found that much more useful. In general I learned that it is better to call than email a realtor, since they run around so much they're rarely at a desk. Still, for a business dealing so heavily with Craigslist, I think a better email response would be beneficial. Not everyone likes or is willing to deal with phones, especially if they're apartment hunting on the sly at work, like me.
After making an appointment for a Saturday afternoon, we met Mike at the office in Newton Center (right next to the T!) and he described the places we'd be seeing. He also gave us a really useful map of Newton, which is a huge town, and that helped us narrow down the "villages" we were looking for. I noticed that he was only showing us cheaper places, perhaps because the original ad I called about was for a pretty cheap apartment. I told him our price range went higher than that and he was flexible enough to add another, more expensive place to the list of units we'd be viewing that day.
All three apartments we saw were really nice. We liked them all, but one had no laundry (a deal-breaker) and one was really cute but smaller than we wanted. The third one was a big 2 BR with a glorious kitchen and huge living area... I'm still a little sad that someone else rented it before we could (we didn't make up our minds fast enough, and by the next weekend it was gone). Mike knew all about each apartment he showed us and actually lived in one of the houses we looked at, so he was able to give lots of information and answer all our questions.
I'd definitely recommend NCA to anybody looking for a place in Newton or the surrounding towns. They don't seem to always have a ton of listings, but based on the places we saw I'd say that they look for quality rental units, and the customer service can't be beat. Compared to some of the other crappy realtors we had to deal with during this process, speaking to someone so friendly and helpful was a breath of fresh air.

As you know, I started out using craigslist.com. I wasn't getting anywhere with it because it was difficult to imagine what places were really like from their descriptions or pictures. A lot of time was wasted looking at places that, had I know what they were actually like, I never would have considered.
But, I saw a rental unit that your company had placed on the site and we talked about it and about my criteria for housing. After showing me a couple of places and listening to my reactions, you quickly understood what was really important to me and my husband. You described a place you knew fit our criteria and you made arrangements to show it to me right away. It was the place for us!
Any prospective lessee would do well to work with you to find a home. In addition to the exceptional service, the finder's fee is paid by the lessor. What a deal!

Mike is a dedicated, principled, and extremely knowledgeable and professional realtor who does his best to ensure that the realty transaction/apartment rental process is as seamless as possible for the would-be house buyer/apartment renter. I’ve rented apartments through Newton Centre Associates on two occasions, and have been thoroughly impressed with Mike’s customer-centric focus, as well as his thorough understanding of the real estate market in Newton and surrounding areas.
Mike recognizes that client preferences are dynamic, not static, and won’t try to make a “hard sell” or employ “guilt trip” tactics on a client when the client changes his/her mind about a particular real estate property.
